Creativity as the art of connecting the improbable.

There’s a very common myth that creativity is a sudden spark, a brilliant idea that springs from nowhere in front of a blank page. However, if we look closely, we realize that creating is almost never about inventing from scratch. Creating is, in its essence, the act of connecting.

True creativity happens when we manage to find an invisible thread between two things that seem to have no relation. It’s about connecting a childhood memory with a conversation overheard on the street. It’s about combining a very personal doubt with the beauty of an ordinary landscape. Ultimately, it’s about building a bridge where before there was only distance.

But in order to connect different points, we first need to have points to connect. We need to nurture a rich and diverse internal repertoire. And it is precisely here that the books and stories we choose to listen to reside.

When we consume only what is familiar to us or remain trapped in dominant narratives, our map of connections becomes narrow. However, when we make room for new voices, for narratives that come from other paths and realities—the heart of what we seek to do at KALAM Publishing—we offer our imagination new pieces for this mosaic.

Creativity doesn’t require us to be geniuses all the time. It only asks that we keep our eyes wide open to the world, be willing to listen attentively, and be curious to discover what happens when two unlikely ideas finally meet.
